WWJD

What would Jesus do?
Most of the time we know what would Jesus do in a situation but we are just too stubborn to obey...
I had a chat with our pastor yesterday and shared my frustrations on how we are suffering financially due to a person who we felt swindled our money from us. I wanted justice and I wanted her to pay for the inconvenience she is causing. I asked him what would Jesus do...he smiled and told me that I know perfectly what would Jesus do.
Jesus will not care about the money. He will not be frustrated but He will turn this depressing situation to an opportunity to show His glory. In fact, this is a perfect opportunity to show compassion, mercy and love...
His plan is not make us materially rich but rich in His blessings. His purpose is for us to be dependent on Him. He wants us to be vessels of His love...that we show the kind of love He wants everyone else to experience.
Our pastor mentioned Jesus' sermon on the mount -
"You are the salt of the earth. But if the salt loses its saltiness, how can it be made salty again? It is no longer good for anything, except to be thrown out and trampled by men. You are the light of the world. A city on a hill cannot be hidden. Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before men, that they may see your good deeds and praise your Father in heaven."
—Matthew 5:13–16
This is our opportunity. God is transforming and using our lives and we should put our full trust in Him. He will never forsake us. It is our chance to be salt and light...
It was a good conversation, something I needed. After that, he prayed for us. Sometimes, God sends people to affirm His love for you and what His purpose is in your life.

It's Raining Miracles

Everyday is a blessing. Each day God rains His blessings upon us that we are just too focused on our disappointments and our frustrations that we do not see how great our God is and how good He is to us.
Today, we were overwhelmed with God's goodness that we thought we should celebrate even though we are experiencing personal financial crisis. After all, it is not all about the money...
Sometimes God's gift comes as a simple pat on the back from your boss. A "job well done" is something which will complete a hectic week.
When a pending task which needed accomplishing gets done, it can be a big relief. When God said,"Come to me and I will give you rest..." He meant it. Oh how good is our God for helping us in small and big things.
When God surprises you with unexpected opportunities, you can't help but sing praises.
And when He answers your prayers in His time, you know that it is meant to be. (Congratulations to my hubby for getting admitted to one of the top universities in the Philippines to complete his masters degree!)
So as we lay our heads tonight to sleep, we know that God watches over us like He always does. And we can't wait for tomorrow, for tomorrow is another miracle waiting to happen.

Spirit of Unity

5May the God who gives endurance and encouragement give you a spirit of unity among yourselves as you follow Christ Jesus, 6so that with one heart and mouth you may glorify the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ.
Congratulations to the UP Pep Squad for winning this year's cheerleading competition in UAAP! Makes me proud to be an alumna of UP. I watched them with pride as they performed the stunts almost flawlessly. I could imagine all the rehearsals and exercises they have gone through to snatch the top prize which have eluded them for the past 2 years. I think they could have not accomplished what they did without unity.
Similarly, I thought about God's church...We are blessed to belong to a unified body of believers where unity exists. Differences exist but all of us have the desire to glorify God. May God continue to bless us with the spirit of unity.

Why Worry?

I feel excited starting this blog. In the midst of financial crisis happening to our lives and to the rest of the world, what sets us apart is that we see beyond the things we don't have. Our rich Father in heaven has blessed us with daily miracles which we want to share with you.

Today we went for a long drive to the Friday Market in  Fujairah to take photos. It has been a long time since we did a leisure shoot. But we got more than just good photos! We bought good tasting mangoes for a bargain. Last week, we saw Thai mangoes in Spinneys but they were really expensive. We just bought one piece of mango. Today, we got a kilo for the price of that one piece of mango! It is was God's simple way of telling us that not all good things need to be pricey.

We had a hearty lunch after our morning trip. We bought tilapia and kangkong from the fish market on the way home. Our daily meal is another miracle for us. A lot of people in the world are starving and doesn't have anything to eat at all. With the financial problems we are facing right now, we are just truly blessed to be able to enjoy a good meal like this.

Reflecting on God's promises, His word from Luke 12:22 has assured us that there is no need to worry.
"...Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat; or about your body, what you will wear. 23Life is more than food, and the body more than clothes. 24Consider the ravens: They do not sow or reap, they have no storeroom or barn; yet God feeds them. And how much more valuable you are than birds!"
What reassuring words! We can always count on His promises.
